Deborah and Shane of Independence, Oregon have had a lot to celebrate. On March 28, 2016, the couple had planned to get married at the local courthouse. They were also expecting their first child together, but Deborah wasn’t due to give birth to their baby girl for another month after their wedding date.

But sometimes, as we all know, life can take unexpected twists and turns. At 4 a.m. on her wedding day, Deborah woke up and realized her water broke! It was a mixed bag of emotions. On one hand, Deborah and Shane were sad about missing out on their wedding. On the other, they were thrilled about their new arrival.

The couple went to the Salem Health Family Birth Center in Salem, Oregon, where doctors discovered that Deborah was not yet in labor. They did, however, learn that Deborah was supposed to get married that day. Instead of letting the big day fall to the wayside, the nursing team banded together and asked Deborah and Shane if they wanted to go ahead and get married. The only catch? The couple would have to forgo their original plans and get hitched right there in the hospital room. They said yes.

Just wait until you see the way in which this nursing team pulled off the impromptu ceremony. Watching Deborah and Shane say their vows from her hospital room was enough to bring tears to my eyes.

Bravo, nurses.
